Established in 2003, the Fr. Basilius Panat Memorial Library stands as a cornerstone of academic excellence and knowledge dissemination at our esteemed institution. Named in honor of Fr. Basilius Panat, a revered figure known for his commitment to education and community service, the library embodies his spirit of enlightenment and empowerment.

• Vast Collection: Our collection boasts over 11,000 meticulously curated books, covering a wide array of subjects ranging from literature and science to humanities and social sciences.

• Specialized Resources: Recognizing the importance of specialized knowledge, we take pride in offering more than 4,000 books dedicated to social work, catering to the needs of students pursuing careers in social welfare and community development.

• Focus on Psychology: Additionally, our library houses around 2,500 psychology-related books, providing invaluable resources for students and scholars interested in understanding the complexities of the human mind and behavior.

• Reference Assistance: Our dedicated team of librarians is available to offer expert guidance, research assistance, and bibliographic support to facilitate information discovery and retrieval.

Timing

The library is open from 8.30. am to 5 pm in all working days including Saturdays

General Guidelines 

• College Identity Card should be produced at the counter before entering the library.

• Students are not permitted to enter the library with their Personal articles such as books, bags, umbrella, files etc. 

• Students are allowed to carry only blank sheets of paper and pen to the library.

• Strict silence should be maintained in the library and its premise.

• UG students can borrow 3 books, and PG students can borrow 5 books .

• Teachers can borrow 10 books at a time. The books will be issued for 30 days subject to renewals till the 31st of March every year. All the books taken by the Staff must be returned on 31st March of the corresponding year. 

Other Guidelines 

•  Students are advised to use library during free hours.

• Students can borrow books from the library on producing the Borrower-Card/Readers’ Ticket issued to them by the librarian. The Borrower- Card /Readers’ Ticket is not transferable.

• The students are expected to use the books with utmost care. The borrower will be held responsible for any defect detected when the book is returned and he/ she will be required to replace defective book either with a new one or pay the compensation fixed by the librarian.

• If a book is lost it must be replaced with a new one or an amount as compensation fixed by the librarian. If the lost or damaged book belongs to a set or series and a new volume is not separately available, the whole set or series of books should be replaced or paid for.

• The loan period is normally fourteen days but the librarian has the right to recall any book, at any time from a borrower, even if the term of the loan has not completed. The loan period may be extended or shortened at the discretion of the librarian. If the book borrowed from the library is not returned on or before the due date, a fine of Rs/-1 (Rupees one only) will be charged per day, on each book

•  Students should enter the names and details in the prescribed register before entering the library.

• All documents borrowed from the Library by the students or the members of the staff must be returnes before the last working day of each semester

• If the borrower card is lost the matter should be informed to the Librarian immediately

• All the books will be returned on the date marked on the date label found on the front page of the book. Absence from College will not be an excuse for not returning the books on time. 

• A fine will be collected from the defaulters.

• Loss of books has to be reported to the Library Staff as soon as possible. Lost books will have to be replaced or the cost of the books will be collected. The cost of the lost books will be assessed as multiples for each decade according to the year of publication of the book.

• Borrowers are responsible for the books marked against their names. In case of damage they shall pay the cost of replacement or rebinding. If a book is noticed to be damaged at the time of issue, the attention of the Library Staff should be called to the fact.

• Every user is supposed to enter the details of the books and journals issued as well as referred, in the issue register provided at the counter.

• Students should return their borrower’s tickets to the Library before they claim their hall tickets.

• Scribbling and mutilating the books will be severely dealt with.

• Books issued from the Library shall be returned when called for.

• In all matters regarding the Library the decision of the Principal shall be final.

• Free internet facility is provided to all students. Students are advised to use the internet for learning purpose only.

• Books should be handled with care and mutilation of books in any manner will be fined.

• All books should be returned before the commencement of vacation.

• Using mobile phones inside the library is strictly prohibited.
